Heather is originally from Spokane, Washington but moved to Small Town Friendly in 2009. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three girls going hiking, hammocking in the backyard, reading any book she can get her hands on, and playing epic board games. She holds a BA in Child Development from Maryville College and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Gardner-Webb University. Prior to entering the counseling field, she worked as a preschool teacher, a Young Life area director, a baker, and a career center consultant, though not all at once! She is certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a certified Trust-Based Relational Intervention®️ (TBRI®️) practitioner and utilizes an attachment-based, trauma-informed modality when working with clients. She believes that strong relationships are the foundation for healthy living and strives to provide an environment of felt safety and trust in every session in order to facilitate strong rapport with each client. Her clinical experiences range from grief counseling to play therapy to couples counseling and her passion is for empowering families and couples to thrive.
